Join us to ring in the Year of the Rooster! Please RSVP here by 12/29.

The evening starts informally at 9:00 pm with an individual purification ceremony in the Forman House Dharma Hall.  Each of us lists on a piece of paper all the patterns of negative and harmful behaviors we would like to relinquish. Then, chanting the Verse of Purification, we each consign our lists into the fire.

New Year's Eve at DBZ

All are invited to Dai Bosatsu Zendo for its New Year's Celebration. Join DBZ members for a family-friendly New Year's Eve with the residents at the monastery. The evening will begin with zazen, a talk by Shinge Roshi, and a special New Year's feast. Then everyone will be invited to welcome in 2016 with the traditional Joya no Kane chanting and ringing of the konsho (big outdoors temple gong) 108 times, ending at midnight and followed by refreshments. Please join us for our January commemoration of our ancestral teachers and celebration of interconnection with all beings. Chanting is from 9:00-10:00am in the Zendo in lieu of regular Morning Service. Zazen will follow at 10:00am.

Thanksgiving Celebration at Dai Bosatsu Zendo

We invite you and your family to join us for our yearly Thanksgiving dinner. The celebration will begin with a Dharma talk by Shinge Roshi on Thursday afternoon, followed by a delicious vegetarian feast. An informal brunch on Friday will conclude the event, but guests will be welcome to linger and enjoy the monastery and grounds. A donation of $250 is suggested, but work-exchange is welcome. Parinirvana Day

We will be celebrating Parinirvana Day, the Buddha's transition into Nirvana and complete freedom from suffering and the cycle of birth and death. Please come join us for this most special celebration, which begins at 6pm in the zendo.  Bring white socks or tabi (shinigi for ordained).
