Join us for a family-friendly New Year's Eve with the residents at Dai Bosatsu monastery.

The evening will begin with zazen, a talk by Shinge Roshi, and a special New Year's feast. Then everyone will be invited to welcome in 2018 with the Joya no Kane, chanting and ringing the daisho (the large outdoor temple bell) 108 times, ending at midnight and followed by refreshments.

Diamond Sutra Chanting

Join us for chanting of the full Diamond Sutra to usher in the New Year. Chanting will take place in the zendo, followed by a potluck. Please RSVP here by 1/5.

New Year's Eve at the Zen Center of Syracuse

Join us to ring in the New Year! Please RSVP here by 12/29.

The evening starts informally at 9:00 pm with an individual purification ceremony in the Forman House Dharma Hall.  Each of us lists on a piece of paper all the patterns of negative and harmful behaviors we would like to relinquish. Then, chanting the Verse of Purification, we each consign our lists into the fire.

New Year's Celebration at Dai Bosatsu Zendo

Please come and celebrate this joyous event with us at Dai Bosatsu Zendo. The evening will begin with zazen, a talk by Shinge Roshi, and a special New Year's feast. Then everyone will be invited to welcome in 2013 with traditional Kanzeon chanting and ringing of the konsho (temple gong) 108 times, ending at midnight. The evening will conclude with dessert and a champagne toast. Overnight stay and a wonderful New Year's Day brunch are included. Event Contribution is $250 for adults ($225 for Hoen-ji members) and $75 for children under 12. Read more »
