HoenJi Anniversary/Jukai Sesshin (silent retreat)

This Anniversary/Jukai Sesshin commemorates the founding of the Zen Center of Syracuse HoenJi 52 years ago in a small room on the Syracuse University campus. After a series of temporary spaces, the Sangha met in Shinge Roshi’s attic for 12 years, and then moved to its current six-acre home in 1996. She was installed as abbot on Oct. 18 of that year.

Also at this sesshin Shinge Roshi's jukai students will take the precepts in a special ceremony on Sunday.

Led by Shinge Roshi, Annivesary/Jukai Sesshin will be offered both in person and online, Thursday, Oct 17, 7 p.m. to Sunday, Oct 20, 5 p.m. See below to choose in-person or online attendance.
