  • The evening begins informally at 9:00 pm with an individual purification ceremony in the Forman House Dharma Hall. Each of us lists on a piece of paper all the patterns of negative and harmful behaviors we would like to relinquish. Then, chanting the Verse of Purification, we each consign our lists into the fire.
  • Zazen begins at 9:30 p.m. in the Carriage House zendo.
  • Roshi will give a talk at 10:30 p.m.
  • At 11:15 p.m., we will chant Kanzeon (the 10-phrase Prolonging Life Sutra invoking Kanzeon, the Bodhisattva of Compassion) 108 times, during which each person will have a turn to strike the big gong and make a silent vow.
  • At Midnight we'll gather in the Forman House to enjoy dashi & soba noodles, non-alcoholic vegetarian refreshments, dancing and conversation by the fire.

Join us for part or all of the evening. If you are only attending part-time, plan your arrival or departure during kinhin periods (between 10:15 and 10:30 or between 11 and 11:15).

Donations accepted.
