Shinge Roshi’s 80th birthday was October 2, but we are continuing the festivities this weekend. She is inviting everyone who would like to attend and even participate to the Adanfo drumming/dancing workshop led by her teacher, Etse Nyadedzor, on Saturday, October 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Community Folk Art Center, 805 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13210. Etse moved here from Ghana in 2001 and she has been studying with him ever since. After the workshop, there will be a birthday celebration with cake and refreshments.

At the CFAC front entrance, ring the bell and let the person at the front desk know you are there for the drumming session. Note: hearing protection is recommended for the drumming session!

Sunday, October 8, 1:30 p.m. at Zen Center of Syracuse

After morning service and dokusan, please join us at the Zen Center in the Forman House at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate Roshi's birthday with lunch and a cake!
