New York Zendo Shobo-Ji Anniversary Weekend Sesshin

New York Zendo Shobo-ji opened its doors on September 15, 1968, and was one of the first Rinzai Zen practice centers to be established in the United States. For more than half a century, we have continued to offer authentic Rinzai Zen training in the heart of Manhattan.

We will celebrate Shobo-ji’s 52nd anniversary with an online weekend sesshin.

Led by Shinge Roshi, Dokuro Osho, and Hokuto Sensei, the Zoom sesshin will include zazen, morning service, teisho, a Dharma talk, dokusan, and Dharma interviews. Off-line time will be built into the schedule for meals, work practice at your homes, and kinhin.

After you register, you will receive a schedule with Zoom links. While we encourage full-time participation, you may join us for as much as you can. The sliding scale fee is $75 to $150.

Please note that the last day to register is September 5th, as we need time to make the assignments for dokusan and dharma interview after registration closes.

We know that some are struggling financially, and we want to make these offerings available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. If you can afford more, please consider giving at a higher level to help others. Your support is so important at this time, when we have no income from our usual in-person programming. Please help us continue our Dharma work.
