SNAP Challenge

The SNAP Challenge invites participants to commit to living on $29.40 worth of food for the week of 2/9-2/15, and donating the balance of their personal food budgets to InterFaith Works, which will donate the money to area food providers. The Challenge is a way of drawing attention to the plight of those trying to feed their families on food stamps, which have been cut by ten percent since last year, with more cuts likely. According to Amalia Swan, of the Food Bank of CNY, the SNAP cuts will be most severe in areas of high unemployment, like Syracuse.

The kick-off to the SNAP Challenge will be held at the World Interfaith Harmony Assembly, with a reception to follow.
