Shobo-ji Martin Luther King Sesshin

This first weekend sesshin of 2021 honors the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Led by Shinge Roshi, Chikan Roshi, and Hokuto Sensei, this Zoom sesshin will include zazen, morning service, teisho, a Dharma talk, dokusan, and Dharma interviews.

Off-line time will be built into the schedule for meals, work practice at your homes, and kinhin.

New York Zendo Shoboji is one of the first Rinzai Zen practice centers to be established in the United States and continues to offer authentic Rinzai Zen training amid the bustle of daily life in Manhattan.

The sesshin will include zazen, chanting, teisho and dokusan. Formal meals using jihatsu (nested bowls) will be served. This sesshin will also be offered online. Read more »

Nyogen Senzaki Sesshin

Join us in person and online for this five-day sesshin at Dai Bosatsu Zendo, honoring Nyogen Senzaki, the great early pioneer of Zen in America whose teachings and poems continue to inspire us decades after his passing.

A student of Soen Shaku Roshi, Senzaki worked tirelessly to share the Dharma even while interned at Heart Mountain during World War II. His deep spiritual friendship with Soen Nakagawa Roshi was an underlying cause for the founding of Dai Bosatsu Zendo. Read more »
