You are invited to our annual celebration of Buddha's Birthday, with chanting, bathing the baby Buddha statue with sweet tea, followed by a pot-luck lunch and cake for children of all ages! Please join us and bring a vegetarian dish to pass for this joyous family event.
All are invited to morning service at 9 a.m., followed by walking meditation, and then Shinge Roshi's teisho (talk) at 10:15. After another walking meditation we'll gather in the Forman House (the big building in front) for the celebration, starting at 11:15. Children are most welcome. We'll hear the story of Shakyamuni Buddha's birth, and we'll take turns bathing the Baby Buddha figure with sweet tea, singing a special verse. Then we'll enjoy a potluck lunch and birthday cake. We will have our regular Sunday morning service in the Carriage House Zendo at 9:00 a.m. Zazen (meditation) will follow from 10:00 to 10:45. On Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Zen Center of Syracuse, we will celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha with chanting, meditation, bathing the baby Buddha statue with sweet tea, a light lunch, and a nature walk for children of all ages.
We will have our regular Sunday morning service in the Carriage House Zendo, starting promptly at 9 a.m. Zazen (meditation) will follow from 10 to 10:45.
