At this rally, ACTS representatives will be asking community leaders whether they support expanding re-kindergarten in Syracuse, abolishing long-term solitary confinement of youth in Onondaga County, and raising the age from 16 to 18 for when people would be treated as adults in our NY State incarceration system. Zen Center partner organization ACTS has formed a Youth Council, a leadership training opportunity for youth (grades 9-12) who are interested in becoming civically engaged and creating measurable change for their communities. Youth Council participants will work to address social justice issues, improve the community, and create positive change. Read more »
It is almost time the annual ACTS spring banquet! The keynote speaker for this year's banquet is the director of the Central New York chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union, Yusuf Abdul-Qadir. Abdul-Qadir will inform, energize, and challenge us to create a community with racial and economic equity.
