On January 1, 2011, Shinge Roshi, Roko Sherry Chayat was installed as abbot of Dai Bosatsu Zendo Kongo-ji Buddhist monastery in the Catskill Mountains of New York State.

On September 21-23, 2012, relics of the Buddha and other Buddhist masters were hosted at the Zen Center of Syracuse.  Small placards accompanied each of the relics with the name of the master and the inscription "most extremely precious one."  Throughout the weekend, hundreds of people came to pay homage and sit with these bright and beautiful precious ones -- embodiments of loving kindness.  May we continue loving kindness now and throughout all the ages.

Students Austin Smith and Michelle Revoir, both military journalists taking a course at the Military Visual Journalism Program at Newhouse, Syracuse University, produced this story on the Zen Center's wellness programs.
