52 Samu, or work practice, is an integral part of Zen training. It is an opportunity to bring mindful attention to all that we do. There is much outdoor work that needs to be done at the Zen Center, from weeding to clearing paths.

This is a wonderful opportunity to dwell in the quietude of the temple grounds, offering your presence and energy. Come yourself or gather friends and family!

For those new to the Zen Center, we are located on six acres of woodlands and gardens at 266 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY. A path winds through the wooded Garden of Serenity, leading to the Sangha Grove, a memorial garden, and following along the swiftly flowing Onondaga Creek. Herons, hawks, deer, and other wildlife nest here; herbs and wildflowers grow in abundance.

The Zen Center will be available for samu practice starting at 11am this Saturday, June 11, and noon this Sunday, June 12, after morning service.  Come when you can and offer whatever time you are able.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at

Come be a part and we look forward to seeing you there!
