With a heavy heart I must tell you that our beloved Dharma Sister Jikai Jane Keenan passed away in the early morning hours of May 30 in Ireland, where she and Saigyo Terry Keenan have been living for quite some time. As many of you know, Tom Walsh, one of Hoen-ji’s long-time Dharma Friends who started sitting with me when the zendo was in our attic, passed away May 10. He was a dear friend and a supportive mentor over these many years. Tom was Executive Vice President for Advancement and External Affairs at Syracuse University, and beloved by all who knew him. He was also deeply involved in theater, writing plays and performing music, and had wide-ranging interests in all the arts. Read more »

Eido Roshi’s funeral ceremony will take place at Dai Bosatsu Zendo on Tuesday, April 24, at noon. Sogen Yamakawa Roshi, abbot of Shogen-ji in Gifu, Japan, will conduct the funeral.Read more »
