Sangha member Kelly Schalk is associated with Greyrock Farm, and invites Zen Center members and families to come for this farm tour at no cost. The farm brings inner city children there to experience farm life, exposing them to alternatives they might otherwise not come into contact with.
The next meeting of Dharma Kids will be on Sunday, June 5th. We will begin the program with a short period of zazen followed by chanting in the Forman House. Afterward we will explore the wooded area along Onondaga Creek and learn about the trees and plants that inhabit the Sangha Grove. We will collect some leaves and do leaf printing on T-shirts! (T-shirts provided). See you then!
This will be the last Dharma Kids before our summer interim period.
Dharma Kids meets in the Joshua Forman House during Sunday morning zazen. First there is a short period of zazen, followed by Namu Dai Bosa chanting, and ending with kinhin (walking meditation) outside. This Sunday, we will learn about mammals and go out looking for signs of wildlife. After that, we will make a raccoon mask! Join us for the fun.
You are invited to join us for a celebration of Buddha's Birthday, with chanting, meditation, bathing the baby Buddha statue with sweet tea, a light lunch, and cake for children of all ages!
We will have our regular Sunday morning service in the Carriage House Zendo at 9:00 a.m. Zazen (meditation) will follow from 10:00 to 10:45. Guests may join us at 9:00, or may gather in the Joshua Forman House between 10:30 and 10:45 where we will all participate in the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration. Read more »
